News from members: QCM Gets a New Oil Burner Testing Capability

QCM Flamelab is an independent, EN 9100:2018 certified flammability testing laboratory located in Łódź, Poland. Established in 2021, it is the newest addition to the Swiss holding Q.C.M., an industry leader in design, certification, consulting, aviation training, and aircraft technical management.

We are excited to announce that, in response to high demand from our existing and potential clients, QCM Flamelab has expanded its fire testing capabilities to include Oil Burner Testing for Seat Cushions, with testing commencing in late April 2024.

Oil Burner tests play an important role in ensuring the safety and performance of seat cushions in aircraft. Using a high-intensity open flame, we can determine burn resistance and weight loss characteristics, ensuring that they meet stringent safety standards and comply with regulations. Our next generation sonic burner is the only test stand of its kind in Poland, and one of ten in Europe. This latest oil burn technology offers more accurate test results through high stability during testing, and improved repeatability and data acquisition post-testing.

These capabilities complement our existing, automated Bunsen Burner testing, which is conducted using QCM Flamelab’s specially-developed Flamelab 4.0. We are one of only a few companies worldwide to offer automated flammability testing for any material, which, by eliminating the variables introduced through the manually-performed processes used in other flammability laboratories, results in more precise and efficient testing.

By continuously innovating and investing in the latest flammability testing technology to improve accuracy, QCM Flamelab enables our clients to confidently make informed decisions about the selection and use of materials in aviation interiors by providing timely, transparent, and confidential test results. We’ve completed 2,000+ tests from over 40 customers to date, and we’re thrilled to be assisting clients even further with our new Oil Burner testing.
